business as usual
had a great row this morning with willy. lower intensity steady state, but was sharp and long rowing. additionally, we had vesper’s coach, scott, on the water with us who gave us some new helpful perspectives. additionally, reilly is here now. she wasn’t able to go out with us this morning, but already there will be a change in tempo and concentration thanks to her presence (as evident by the mid-day erg where she asked us to do our hour a couple splits faster than usual).
i should note that the things scott used as focal points for us revolved around settling in certain places. he spoke of tilting our bodies and immediately after doing so finding that comfortable spot on the seat that you could just easily sit on at all times. focusing on that “spot” in the seat helped to provide stability to the catch and then a point from which to un-weight the seat at the catch. additionally, he focused a lot on settling the heels in to the cups of the shoes. not just on the drive but also the recovery until you need them to raise. again, putting the focus lower in the boat and steadying it.
